MCBC Menno Hall

Greetings MCBC constituents and supporters,

 

I am writing to share an important directional decision, approved by the MCBC Leadership Board after several months of conversation, analysis, etc., regarding our office presence across BC.

 

We are planning to relocate our CBC-based offices by November 30, 2026. The new Vancouver location will be at Menno Hall Menno Hall - At the corner of University Blvd & Wesbrook Mall , currently under final construction, with occupancy estimated for the end of October 2026. We are also maintaining a continued Valley presence, ideally within one of our Abbotsford-area church facilities — conversations toward that end are underway.

 

Our current CBC (Columbia Bible College, third floor Resource Building) office location was built for a different era and offers little visibility or engagement with students, campus visitors, or the broader network of leaders we are called to resource. Menno Hall places us alongside undergrad Mennonite-Anabaptist students and staff, and within walking distance of four seminaries; which is a context well-suited to our growing emphasis on finding, forming, and deploying Jesus-centered leaders across our churches (Eph. 4:11-13). 

 

We continue to value CBC as a historic ministry partner and our relationships with fellow kingdom/reign of God, Jesus-centred, the Anabaptist-Mennonite wing of Mennonite Brethren and their churches. Our relocation is about our changing office needs, reflecting a networking posture in our province, and flexibility. 

 

Practically, this means:

  • Vancouver (Menno Hall): Primary location for our Ministry Support Admin and the base from which I will work two days per week
  • Abbotsford/Valley: Continued presence for Youth/Next Generations staff and at least one day per week for me, hosted by a local church partner
  • Records and storage: Long-term records will be housed potentially at an Abbotsford-area church facility or Menno Hall storage; those arrangements are in process/still working through. 
  • The move is basically cost-neutral with our CBC rental and utility rates being comparable. Some of the fee structures beyond base lease are in flux within an acceptable range reviewed by our Finance Committee Chair and Leadership Board.

We believe this transition is cost-responsible and are working to ensure it is operationally smooth.

 

We are grateful for the partnerships that have sustained us:  including CBC, Peace Church on 52, who has generously hosted me in Vancouver in a cost-free space in their community hub/centre building.
